GUERRILLA -
Experiment for dark times

< Return to Portfolio

“GUERRILHA – experiment for dark times” is a theatrical show created in 2016 that deals with stories that are rarely told to us in relation to female resistance during the process of civil-military dictatorships in Latin America. The research was carried out based on official, historical and aesthetic documents, as well as the reports of those who lived through this period that still leaves an open wound in the history of our continent.

surges from a trip by the actress Idylla Silmarovi to Bolivia and Peru, where she came into contact with feminine and feminist groups that continue in the fight for Memory, Truth and Justice and that are still looking for their relatives and friends who disappeared during the dictatorial process suffered in Latin America in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

This meeting led her to realize that, in most of the study materials found about the time, there is a predominance of heterosexual and cisgender male speeches describing the memories and processes experienced. From this, the actress felt the need to make a rise in theatrical/performative artistic creation of the memories of women who participated in political struggles in Latin America during this period.

Synopsis: GUERRILHA - feminine noun. Discontinuous actions of disquiet, ambushes. The main strategy is the concealment and extreme mobility of the fighters called guerrillas. A woman who speaks along with the voice of others. Timeless reconstruction of yesterday's still dusty memories. If those who command go to TRÁ: Guerrillas of America: Univos!

It was created under the direction of Raquel Castro, musical direction by Claudia Manzo, with performance, conception and dramaturgy by Idylla Silmarovi, under the guidance of the Helena Greco Institute of Human Rights and Citizenship.
